Basketball League Software for Rec Leagues
Rec leagues run on volunteers, group chats and a spreadsheet someone updates after the games. BucketStats gives a rec league one place for the schedule, scores, standings and player stats, and a public page players and families can check on their phones.
What is hard about running recreational leagues
Scores scattered across chats
After a game the result lives in three group chats. With BucketStats the scorekeeper records the game once and the standings, the schedule and the box score update from the same record.
Standings arguments
Tie-breakers are the most common rec league dispute. Standings are calculated the same way every time, with ties broken by head-to-head and then point difference, and the rule is shown on the page.
Volunteer time
Organizers have a day job. Generating the schedule automatically, or importing it from a spreadsheet, and sharing one league link with every team cuts the weekly admin to a few minutes.
A good fit if you have
- Weekly games on a fixed schedule
- 6 to 16 teams
- Volunteer scorekeepers
- Players who want to see their own stats
How to set it up
- 1Create the league and add the season
- 2Add each team and send its manager a 9-digit invitation code
- 3Generate a round-robin schedule, import one from a spreadsheet, or add games one by one
- 4Publish the league page and share the link
What it costs: organizers pay nothing. Each team subscribes for its own workspace from $29 a month, and the league goes live once two teams have joined and subscribed.
Frequently asked questions
Is BucketStats free for a rec league organizer?

Can a volunteer keep score from a phone?
Yes. The scoring screen records each play live, so the score, box score and standings update as the game is played.
Can players see their stats?
Players on a team can have a public profile when the team chooses to show it, with their season numbers.
