Free throw percentage is the share of free throw attempts that go in.
Formula
FT% = free throws made ÷ free throws attempted
Example
Making 7 of 10 free throws is 70.0%.
Why it matters in a league
Free throws decide close games. A team that shoots 55% from the line in a one-possession game is giving points away.
