What is Standings tie-breakers?

Tie-breakers are the rules a league uses to rank teams that finish with the same record. Common ones are head-to-head results, then point differential, then points scored.

Example

Two teams are 5-3. Team A beat Team B in their only meeting, so Team A ranks higher by head-to-head.

Why it matters in a league

Decide the rule before the season and publish it. Disputes over tie-breakers are among the most common arguments in recreational leagues.
