What is Win percentage?
Win percentage is the share of games a team has won. It is the main way to rank teams that have played different numbers of games.
Formula
Win % = wins ÷ (wins + losses)
Example
A team that is 6-2 has a win percentage of 6 ÷ 8 = .750.
Why it matters in a league
Raw wins mislead when teams have played different numbers of games, as happens after postponements. Win percentage corrects for that.
