What is Three-point percentage (3P%)?

Three-point percentage is the share of three-point attempts that go in.

Formula

3P% = three-pointers made ÷ three-pointers attempted

Example

A player who makes 4 of 11 threes shoots 4 ÷ 11 = 36.4%.

Why it matters in a league

Volume matters. Three of five (60%) over one game is less informative than 36% on 100 attempts over a season, so leagues often set a minimum number of attempts for the three-point leaderboard.
